One of the original city gates which separates the Old Town from the New Town
This historic, hardly to miss entrance in the Republic Square (Náměstí Republiky) by which the coronation processions of Czech kings entered the Old Town is one of the most significant monuments of Late Gothic Prague. The Powder Gate Tower which formerly served as a gunpowder store is the starting point for the Coronation or Royal Route to Prague Castle.
Interesting facts:
- The Powder Gate Tower is 65 m high, the viewing gallery is located 44 metres above ground, the spiral staircase is made of 186 stone steps.
- The Powder Gate Tower was completed in 1475.
