Český Krumlov is one of the most picturesque towns in Europe

Český Krumlov is like a miniature of Prague - a Unesco World Heritage Site with breath taking castle above the Vltava river, streets laid in cobblestones, an old town square...It is also second most visited city in the Czech Republic (after Prague). The past is lurking at you everywhere.

During summer, you might meet many water lovers finishing their canoe trip in Český Krumlov and then relaxing in the town. If you choose to come in winter period, most of the tourists will be gone and you might be awarded by a very romantic view of the castle covered in snow.

For architecture enthusiasts: the architecture of the Castle and the town is a mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque.

Český Krumlov Castle

is a complex of over 40 buildings and palaces including large park of seven hectares. The roots trace back to the 13th century, however much of the castle as we see it now was built in the 17th century including the fine Rosenberg Ballroom, the Chapel of St. George, the Renaissance Hall, and the Royal Apartments. The castle also has its own Baroque Theatre which represent the Baroque mature period and has been preserved in its full beauty.

The Church of St. Vitus

This Roman-Catholic Gothic church traces back to the 13th century. The church is also known as the burial place of a number of important Bohemian families (i.e the Rosenbergs and the Schwarzenbergs), the tombs of which contain the remains of many generations of each family. Occasionally, classical concerts take place there.

Český Krumlov Streets

We encourage you to simply wander in the city. You will admire the beautiful artistic shops, colorful buildings, old streets and encounter many frescoes dating back centuries.

Egon Schiele Art Centrum

is a large gallery featuring classical and contemporary 20th-century artwork. It was established in 1993 and it features works by such renowned artists as Gustav Klimt, Salvador Dalí, and Pablo Picasso. The permanent exhibition of works by Viennese painter Egon Schiele, as well as an interesting overview of his life and his time in Český Krumlov, is a great bonus.
